Happy Earth Day! In 1970, the largest single day protest in human history occurred, and that day is now celebrated every year as Earth Day. 51 years later, we are still fighting for a cleaner planet. At #REMIXbyStevieLeigh we work everyday to divert unnecessary textile waste from heading to a landfill. By creating our one-of-a-kind wearable art garments, we save approximately 10-15lbs of fabric from being wasted! The fashion industry as a whole is one of the worst offenders in global pollution. SchoolArts magazine by Davis Publications was founded in 1901 and is dedicated to provided superior art curriculum, engaging studio lessons, and valuable advocacy and classroom resources.
The team at SchoolArts featured Stevie Leigh in their February 2021 issue in their 'Contemporary Art in Context' section. The article goes through Stevie Leigh's process in creating her wearable art designs from discarded material as well as featured her bio and a great interview!
